The SIMud alchemy system will hopefully wind up being very interesting. It should allow players to experiment with a tremendous number of different ingredients and methods of preparing and combining the ingredients. There should probably be multiple combinations that result in similar potions. Certain potions should require specific types of containers (based on their ingredients and effects), ie, the chemicals react with each other and could result in: - container is destroyed and potion is lost - potion becomes inert - potion becomes toxic Preparation methods: - grind, crush, chop, melt, infuse, boil, brew, mix, cook, cool, freeze Alchemical reagents: - platinum, gold, lodestone, silver, copper, crystal, steel, aluminum, brass, glass, marble, granite, clay, onyx, salt, iron, mithril, lead, tin, meteorite, quartz - diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, opal, pearl, jade, peridot, amethyst, garnet, aquamarine, topaz, spinel, sunstone, moonstone, agate, coral, amber, ivory, tourmaline, turquoise, black pearl - ash, hazel, oak, pine, yew, linden, willow, maple, aspen, cherry, apple - belladonna (nightshade), mistletoe, saphron, arsenic, comfrey, anise, wolfsbane, basil, sulphur, aloe, ivy, mint, honey, garlic, fennel seed, ginger, ginseng, mandrake, yarrow, sage, eyebright, thistle, nettle - fruits and vegetables - monster parts (wing of bat, eye of newt, dragon's blood, basilisk fangs) - spider silk, ash - mercury (quicksilver), phosphorous, sodium - alcohol, water, oil - gasses (oxygen, hydrogen, noxious stuff...)
