Donna - 486 dx/40mhz, 8mb ram, 850mb hd, 2x cdrom, 36kbps modem, flaky vga
	named for highschool friend, picked at random from yearbook
	- box went to tams with me and was converted to slackware + win95
	- renamed > hedwig

Amber - 386, 40mb hd, amber text-only display
	named for the monitor
	- donna's sidekick before she was named donna, dos note taking machine
	- dead

Hedwig - athlon 2500+, 1gb ram, 200gb hd
	named for harry potter's owl
	- reincarnation of donna after mission, linux only
	- was slowly upgraded to current situation from original ancient parts
	- resisted further name change (to something discworld related)
	  because penny liked it, and because hedwig is an appropriate name
	  for our mail server
	- now serving as simud/nettg primary server

Crookshanks - 486, 16?mb ram, 50lb 1gb scsi hd of doom
	named for hermoine's cat (from harry potter)
	- ran beside original hedwig as file server until it literally went up
	  in flames, shooting blue sparks out the back

Rincewind - athlon 1.4ghz, 896mb ram, 60gb hd, dvd, 52x cdrw, radeon 9200
	first real machine purchased with my own money
	- built with plans of acting as official simud server, but dsl got too
	  expensive and early hedwig was pressed into service once i got free
	  hosting options
	- currently boots xp pro, mandrake linux, and dos 6.2
	- overclocked to 1.5 because i'm wild and crazy like that
	- hates penny
	- now serving as primary desktop/fileserver at home

Vivi - powermac, os9.2
	named for black mage from ffix, not princess from one piece
	- short lived kitchen cookbook database built from father-in-law's
	  spare parts, eventually flaked out for no reason whatsoever
	- dead

Morpork - 450mhz p3, 512mb ram, >200gb hd (8 drives total)
	named for half of the great city in discworld
	- primary office desktop, dev server
	- dead

Ankh - apple g3/300mhzish, 256mb ram, osx 10.3 ;)
	named for other half of the big wahooni
	- resurrected broken parts and unused machine from work for personal
	  use (and eventually intended to sit as companion to morpork back
	  at work)
	- sitting unused somewhere at work now since they asked for it back,
	  but never wound up using it...
	- dead

Vimes - dell 2.6ghz p4, 512mb ram, mid-low end radeon, s-video out
	named for captain of ankh-morpork town watch, it goes on patrol
	- purchased as christmas gift from nicole
	- goes to class with me, penny uses it to read fanfic at home

Nobby - dec alphastation 8/300, 4x4gb scsi
	named for most colourful policeman in am
	- tamsalumni.org

Ponder - 2.4ghz celeron, 256mb ram, cruddy intel video, no sound
	named for youngest faculty member at unseen university, cs prof
	- primary desktop machine until Hydra came along
	- decommissioned and turned into samba test client
	- effectively dead

Carrot - sun blade
	named for king of ankh morpork, and for the carrot-shaped bit of red
	  plastic on the chasis
	- secondary desktop until it got reformatted a few times as we tested
	  different issues with solaris 9/10

Tarma - athlon 64 3000+, 512mb ram, 160gb hd, 16x dvd+/-rw, geforce fx
	17" flat panel + tv tuner card + winxp media center = tivo
	now serving in our bedroom as replacement of the 13" tv i've had since
	  6th grade

Ridcully - 300mhz teal g3, 704mb ram, 12gb hd
	named for current archchancellor of unseen university, behind the times
	Standard issue g3 with over-the-top ram that makes it vaguely usable
	- secondary desktop machine, serves as 

Hydra - dual 1.4ghz athlons, 1gb ram, 40gb hd, 16x dvd+/-rw
	named by Josh, kept it since it is the two-headed monster
	well, is only two-brained, would be dual head if I didn't need desk space
	  for Ridcully
	- primary office desktop machine
