I get to try to talk to an academic counsellor today. Because I failed all of my classes last semester and my GPA plunged below the 2.0 mark as a result, I am probably going to have to pay back much of the financial aid I was mysteriously awarded (didn’t ask for it, didn’t expect it).

While I’m talking to them, I need to see about being able to either retroactively drop courses I completely bombed or being allowed somehow to simply complete them. Hopefully this is the first step on the road to healing my grades – and eventually to getting out of this dump.

That is what we call a randomly-generated subject.

Anyhow, today started off normally enough – Penny got up and left for work and assumedly she set the alarm for a bit later in order to nudge me out of grogginess resultant from my inability to fall asleep at a reasonable hour last night. However, I did not get up when the alarm went off – for the alarm never rang. There was apparently a power outage a few hours ago that wreaked havoc on all of our wall-powered clocks. Rincewind decided to reboot as a result of this, so I know the outage lasted for more time than the UPS could handle.

Stephen and Nicole are en route to the house now, with Amber (potential new sister-in-law type person) in tow. I was supposed to be at work by now, but well, stuff happens, ne? Either way, nobody was really expecting me to get anything done in the office since the whole family run-around thing was planned in advance.

We had wanted to go to the Gaslight, but it looks like we’d have had to made reservations a few weeks in advance (normally we have done so in the past, but the only times we’ve ever gone were in result of Penny’s having won a contest at work, so things might have been different). I have no idea what exactly is going to happen this afternoon/evening.

I have homework for CS460 due tonight, but it shouldn’t take me very long, once I convert my knowledge of MySQL into Oracle.

Sigh, ok, is likely time to actually stop playing with this thing and get ready for school/work. Danny is likely en route as I type, so I should probably consider finding some pants so as not to embarrass him too much when he comes in.

Our OS project (http://www.cs.arizona.edu/classes/cs452/summer04) is evil. But that’s ok, we don’t mind… as long as we can wrap our collective brain around the topic… which I don’t know that we can. An A in this class will take my GPA from abysmal all the way up to only moderately abysmal. I need that. Besides, I actually like the course material. It’s fun stuff. Brain melting, but fun.
