Well, it looks like I was right again. Not that any of my predictions regarding WoW have been terribly insightful in any way, but shrug. Namely, my sources of inspiration for these ‘predictions’ have been official Blizzard lore combined with my general experience/exposure to the genre for the last who knows how many years.
That said, the specific prediction I’m talking about confirmed by yesterday’s announcement that there will be Horde paladins and Alliance shamans.
Not really a whole lot to say about the whole deal except that it does a few things like:
- Eliminates reasons to gripe about class X being too uber and the entire enemy side being just chocked full of them.
- Makes high level caster gear of the appropriate type suddenly usable now, as well as unique class-specific drops. Ex, caster plate (if there really is such a thing) is suddenly no longer vendor trash for Horde players and stuff like Blue Dragonscale (caster mail) becomes much more useful for Alliance.
- Means you don’t have to switch factions to try out that other class. If you’re loyal Horde on a PvP server, you can now play around with a pretty little sissified blood elf paladin to your heart’s content w/o worries about switching servers and suddenly losing all contact with your support base (read twinking).
I like it. But now I’m really torn. I’ve been planning on rolling a Draenei char for several months now… but now I don’t know what class to choose.
